Event Description
What is Bikeability Learn to Ride?
Learn to Ride is ideal for children who are not yet confident riding a bike independently and are ready to learn the basics of cycling on a pedal bike.
Bikeability Plus – Learn to Ride
During this 2-hour course, your child will be introduced to riding a pedal bike and will learn how to:
- get on and off their bike safely while holding the brakes
- position their pedals correctly using their preferred starting foot
- start riding by pushing down on the pedal to gain momentum and continue pedalling
ride in a straight line - stop safely using both brakes and place a foot on the ground
- maintain balance while riding
- steer in the direction they want to travel
- turn left and right, progressing from gentle curves to tighter turns as their confidence and control improve
This course provides an introduction to independent cycling skills. To help your child continue progressing, regular practice after the session will be important.
